From the Deacon’s Desk

Over the past few weeks, students have been heading back to school. Hopefully, it has been a great break for everyone. For our out of town students that were back with us for the summer, it was great to have you with us and we look forward to having you back. Know that all of you, in town and out of town, will be in our prayers as you navigate the ups and downs and challenges over the next 9 months. May the Lord watch over you, guide you, and keep you safe.  Tuesday is Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Last year in this very column I told you what this memorial is, anyone remember? If not, it is on our parish website here http://ssppcc.org/2016/08/from-the-deacons-desk-15/

‘Faith on Fire’  Fire changes things. Our faith changes us. Are you on fire with your faith? Would you like to be on fire with your faith? We have just the thing for you. On the evening of Friday, September 8, my wife Dawn and I will host a discussion for adults around a campfire on the back lawn of the Adult Faith Formation House.  The idea is for interested adults to bring a snack, beverage of your choice, and your lawn chairs and join me and Dawn around the campfire for a discussion about a particular aspect of our faith. We plan for this to be the first of many ‘Faith on Fire’ events.  Look for more details in the bulletin in the weeks ahead.

Don’t forget, Tuesday, August 29, at 7:00 p.m. we will have our clergy panel taking on questions & answers about some of our Catholic traditions.  Send in your questions, only the hard ones. Don’t miss it. Details are in this bulletin.
